We are delighted to announce that we have received an award from South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s Family, Friends and Carers Matter Fund. This vital financial support will enable us to host and facilitate our annual ‘Carers Get Together. event’ As the name suggests, this event is focussed on unpaid carer and the people they care for living in and around Kirklees.
Unpaid carers are one of the most underrepresented groups in society. They give their time freely and often without support. They do it for love, yet this essential work and its societal value is often sadly overlooked.
Our research shows that whilst unpaid carers acknowledge their work is essential, rewarding and joyful, many people also described feelings of exhaustion, depression and loneliness.

This is such important work; unpaid carers give their time freely and without hesitation. Our aim is to bring people together. Our partners will be on hand offer to offer a friendly welcome, provide expert advice, offer key support and share our experiences.
We’ve also got a range of fun activities and refreshments for everyone, so it will be a really special day – all of which is made possible by this generous funding.”
