Thanks to a grant from EyUp!, the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust charity, Carers Count Kirklees will be running an awareness event to mark Carers Rights Day on the 20th of November 2025.
Held at Brian Jackson House in Huddersfield, the event will bring carers together to learn about their rights and get to know the support and services they can access. Other local organisations will hold stalls with information on the support they offer to carers, and our Carers Count staff will be on hand with valuable advice on a range of issues, such as future planning and emergency planning.
There will also be fun and relaxing activities, including a ‘pamper station’ with hand massages where carers can take a well-earned moment to themselves – as well as plenty of refreshments!
There are approximately 5.7 million unpaid carers in the UK providing support to a family member, friend or neighbour who could not manage without their help. Many of these carers are unaware of their rights and the support they are entitled to, and some don’t know that they ‘count’ as carers at all. This can exacerbate the challenges faced by many carers, such as stress, social isolation and financial strain.
Carers Rights Day exists to make carers aware of their rights and help them access the support and assistance they might need, such as Carers Assessments, benefits, reasonable adjustments at work, and more.
Our Carers Rights Day Event will run from 1.30pm to 5.30pm in Suite G5, Brian Jackson House, HD1 5JP. There’s no need to book, just drop by!
We would like to thank EyUp! for their support, which made this event possible.
