Independent Mental Health Advocate (IMHA)

 

What is an IMHA?

 

Independent mental health advocate An IMHA will support you if you have been referred to services because of your mental health.  The IMHA will make sure that your views are heard.
Assessment If you are in hospital the IMHA can speak on your behalf about any worries you have about the care and treatment you are having.  The IMHA will help you understand why you are having treatment. 
Interview support The IMHA can speak for you at tribunal hearings – a tribunal hearing is where health professionals will talk to you about your treatment and what will happen next.  
Wellbeing

The IMHA can make sure care is in place once you leave hospital.

 

An IMHA will help you get legal advice if you need it.
