Consultation on Liberty Protection Safeguards - Have your say!
A new consultation has been launched on the proposed changes to the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) Code of Practice, which includes guidance on the new Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) system.
The consultation is also seeking views on the LPS regulations, which will underpin the new system that applies to people over the age of 16 who may lack the mental capacity to make decisions about their care and treatment.
The aim of the consultation is to help to protect the human rights of those impacted and to give individuals and families a greater say in their care.
They want to hear from people with lived experience of the Mental Capacity Act and to gain feedback on the plans.
The closing date to respond is 11.45 pm on 7th July 2022.
