Dementia Action Week 2023
15/05/2023
This year’s Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Action Week will take place from 15-21 May and will again focus on diagnosis.
Alzheimer’s Society undertook some research, following a drop in diagnosis rates. They found that being in denial, and referral times to specialists, are big barriers for people who are experiencing dementia symptoms to seek a diagnosis.
This Dementia Action Week, Cloverleaf is once again working alongside local partners to help raise awareness in our communities and to encourage those who might be living with, or close to someone who might be living with, undiagnosed dementia to:
- be able to understand and recognise potential dementia symptoms;
- go to Alzheimer’s Society or a local service provider for guidance and support;
- feel empowered to take the next step;
- improve the diagnosis process for both them and healthcare professionals.
Cloverleaf advocates work with people with dementia, wherever they are living, to help ensure their voices are heard. We work alongside people so that their views and opinions are at the centre of any decisions taken about their health and welfare.
Keep an eye on our social media channels this week for further details on the various activities we are involved with on a local level and get involved using #DementiaActionWeek
Alzheimer’s Society offers practical advice and information on what next steps to take, what to expect during and after the diagnosis process, and what support they can offer throughout.
