Lead the Way to offer Chi Chi Fit Musical Dance Classes!
08/02/2024
Lead the Way (part of Cloverleaf Advocacy) is are excited to announce that we will be offering Chi Chi Fitness classes for people with a learning disability and their carers. Thanks to a grant from Active Calderdale, a Calderdale Council initiative which aims to make exercise accessible to everyone and help people get active, we’re able to run two 20-week Chi Chi Fitness groups this year.
Described as ‘Zumba meets Broadway’, Chi Chi Fitness involves easy-to-follow dance moves to popular musical theatre tunes, offering a fun, accessible way for people to improve their fitness while connecting with others in their community. The classes will be highly adaptable, including lower-intensity workouts ideal for older people, as well as seated routines tailored for people who use a wheelchair. Classes will be followed by ‘coffee and chat’ sessions for participants to meet each other, get together and catch up.
Karen Graham, Service Manager for Lead the Way, said, "We're thrilled to have received funding from Active Calderdale to deliver Chi Chi dance sessions for people with a learning disability and their carers in Calderdale. Chi Chi, which combines easy-to-master dance routines and songs from well-known musicals is a great way to get and stay fit while having fun.
You don't need any previous experience to take part, and can attend any or all of the sessions. And, after burning off all that energy, there'll be a chance to refuel and chat with fellow dancers at our coffee morning."
If you’re interested in coming along, the classes start Wednesday 21st February 1-2.30pm, at: Foundry Street Community Centre, Sowerby Bridge, HX6 3AS Or for more information, please contact: info@leadthewaycalderdale.org 0300 012 0416
