Volunteers wanted for Carers Count Calderdale!

27/01/2025

Our Carers Count Calderdale service is seeking new volunteers to join their team; can you help deliver vital support to unpaid carers in Calderdale?

Carers Count Calderdale is a service provided by Cloverleaf Advocacy, supporting unpaid carers across Calderdale who care for someone unable to manage without their help due to illness, frailty, disability, mental ill health, dementia, or drug and alcohol dependency.

A key aspect of Carers Count’s mission is to highlight the vital services they provide to carers. That’s why the team is seeking a new promotional volunteer to help spread the word about the important work they do.

This role can involve activities such as promoting at stalls, sharing content on social media, attending meetings, and more offering plenty of variety. These events may be irregular or sometimes recurring. Promotional activities are led by a staff member, and we’re seeking volunteers to support them in these efforts.

One of the promotional activities Carers Count would like the new volunteers to assist with is the monthly hospital discharge stall at Calderdale Royal Infirmary.

The role includes:

Skills required: Previous experience of promotion and understanding of Carers Count is not essential as training will be given.

Qualities: Able to chat easily to people, awareness of and respect for confidentiality, awareness of safeguarding, listening skills, patience and honesty, awareness of carers issues.

Attitude: Non-judgmental, reliable, punctual.

Time commitment:  Approx 3/4 hours per month

Expenses: Volunteer expenses will be authorised by filling out a Volunteer Expenses sheet with valid receipts or tickets attached. Details of this and other information relevant to volunteering is contained in the Cloverleaf Advocacy volunteer handbook.

In return you will gain experience, valuable new skills (including training in group facilitation) and boost your confidence.
